They come in many forms. ”Love you” at the end of a phone call. A kiss on the way to school. A wave as you drive away. Perhaps the hardest goodbye is when there’s a lot of time to say it.
When you only have a few seconds to say it, all the emotions come at once and they’re raw and real and good. At the time you wish for more time to hold them and kiss them all over and just look at them for a few more minute in case you forget something about them. But when you have the time, you often have too much of it. You can say goodbye many times and tell them over and over how you love them but then, it doesn’t seem real.
Goodbyes are best when treated like Band aids, ‘tis best to do it quickly.
